This painting was made for Swordlord Productions for the Minnesota Metalfest in 2009. Swordlord wanted a demon breaking out of the ground to symbolize the resurrection of the festival. When I was painting it, I tried to always keep in mind that this would likely be a shirt offered at the festival itself, so I wanted to make sure it was something that I would wear as a metal fan myself. I've seen a lot of lame festival t-shirts in my day, so it was really important for me to make something that people would get and not feel embarrassed to wear.
